Color Themes

I was tasked with creating an original movie poster based off of a movie. I chose "Enola Holmes" because the movie is mysterious and creative and the poster portrays that. The original poster is a mixture of realistic pictures and animation style art, and I wanted to keep a similar yet slightly different theme. I added in some sketched out city skylines and then turned them to the side to create suspense and mystery. The first poster I made was just a regular poster of my own creation. Here it is!

Next, I was to shift the poster into black and white. So, that's what I did! I adjusted the brightness and contrast and used the curves tool to adjust the brightness in certain places.

The next thing I did was keep most of the poster in black and white, but just add a pop of color. In the movie, Enola is very much so in her own world and she waits for no one. So I decided that she would be the pope of color. This helps show the contrast between her and the other characters.

For the next go at the poster I used LAB colors and adjusted the levels and curves on the LAB color mode. I really like how it brought out some of the colors like the blues, greens, and yellows. I think it gave it a cool contrast.

Next, I was challenged to use mostly the color theme that I had created. This was pretty challenging, and I ended up just using the colors to give the poster a sort of foggy feel. I feel like it adds to the mysterious element because the other characters and background are more hidden by the fog. Below I've put the color theme that I made and the poster that I used it on.
