Design Effects
For this assignment, I was tasked with creating four different magazine covers for a tech magazine. One with a specific text effect, one with a glass text effect, one with a tech mandala, and lastly one with a headshot.
Title Style

The first magazine cover that I created was using a text effect that I created using effects shown in a YouTube tutorial, which I have linked below. Then I used a image of a man wearing a VR headset, and I used a color overlay. I used a futuristic image for the background and lowered the opacity and used the screen overlay setting.
Glass Text

The next magazine cover that I created was using a glass text effect that I created using effects shown in a YouTube tutorial, which I have linked below. I used the smudge tool to make the text easier to see on the background. Then, I used two separate images, one of a computer, and one of an abstract tech looking image to create the background. I used a soft eraser on the computer image to help the edges blend in better. Then I finished off the image by adding more text.
Tech Mandala

The next cover that I created was one using a tech looking mandala of my own creation. I used the line tool to create one sliver of the mandala and then copied it and aligned it to create the full thing. Then I put a color overlay on it and lowered the opacity. Next, I found a cool futuristic looking picture and placed it on top. I used a soft eraser to crop the edges and give it a smooth look. I also used a color overlay there as well. I added the rest of the text and I was done!
Headshot Cover

The last magazine cover that I made was using a headshot that I found on Pixabay. I used a clipping mask with a soft edge, as well as a color overlay to help it fit the feel of the cover. Then I added a cool background with a blur effect on top to add some depth. Next I added the rest of the text and formatting to create the final image.
